The Umno general assembly and party elections, which was scheduled to be held in December, has been postponed to March next year to "facilitate an early transition of power".
Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the party's supreme council, which met earlier today, had agreed to have the general assembly postponed but party's divisional elections would carry on as scheduled starting Oct 9.
However, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said he would only make known his decision on whether to contest the party presidency within the next two weeks. “I have not announced any decision to contest at this point of time and intend to do it before the divisional meetings”. He mention that the reason for the postponement it to facilitate an early transition.
This is good news to all the Malaysian. I hope in this two weeks times he will announce an early transition of power to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. The share market sure will react positively if these transitions do happen.
